Bike Riding

Bicycling on the BeachHilton Head Island is absolutely perfect for bike riding. Not only is it beautiful, it is flat especially on the beach where the sand at low tide is hard packed and great for a wonderful bike ride. Along with more than 12 miles of hard-packed sandy beaches, we have about 50 miles of paved public pathways. Biking is a popular activity for visitors and locals alike.

A few tips when riding on the beach: check the tides. At low tide there is an large expanse of wide beach with lots of room to ride. High tide brings a much narrower stretch of beach. Be aware of which direction the wind is blowing. It is often easier to head into the wind and return with the wind at your back.

Hilton Head Bike TrailsCan't bring your own bike? Don't worry.
