Spanish Wells

Privacy and tranquility are words most often associated with Spanish Wells, a private waterfront community off the beaten path on Hilton Head Island. So named because this was where the Spanish first made landfall hundreds of years ago, it is rich with gorgeous ancient live oak trees shagged with Spanish moss. Tucked away on the Brahms Point peninsula it features fabulous views of Broad Creek, the open waters of the Calibogue Sound and the Intercoastal Waterway.

When it was designed in the early 60's most of the first residents in this quiet waterfront area were either retired or approaching retirement age, in their mid-to-late 60s. Soon Spanish Wells welcomed families of all ages and you will see children riding bicycles throughout the neighborhood.

The 360-acre community has a nine-hole private country club and swimming complex. There is a deep-water dock for residents to use for fishing, crabbing, shrimping or just enjoying the view. Many of Spanish Wells homesites begin at one acre in size and most of the estates have unparalleled views, while more modest, older homes border the golf course and lagoons.
