Mid-Island

In the middle of Hilton Head is an area that is home to one of the oldest neighborhoods of the Island along with one of its newest beach addresses. As you drive south from Port Royal on your left will you come upon Folly Field, then Bradley Beach area and finally Singleton Beach as you get closer to Palmetto Dunes. The villas and homes are placed right behind the dune line of some of the most beautiful beaches on the Island. Centrally located, one can venture in either direction to area shops, restaurants, movie theaters, miniature golf, as well as the Westin Hotel. Golfers have easy access to the golf courses of Port Royal, Hilton Head Plantation, and Palmetto Hall, or south to Palmetto Dunes, Sea Pines and Shipyard. A bike path runs almost the length of the Island along Highway 278 so from here you can bike, jog, and walk or roller blade in either direction.

Folly Field

A hidden treasure Folly Field is an area no vacationer should miss. Long an islander secret, this un-crowded and un-spoiled neighborhood offers a trip back to the early years of Hilton Head Island. Folly Field is partially responsible for the explosion of Hilton Head Island as not only a vacation spot, but a place to live. Some of the first beach cottages were built in 1953 to generate more ferry traffic from the mainland in hopes that the South Carolina government would then build a bridge to accommodate all the new residents and visitors.

This thriving community of homes offers wide beaches and unparalleled access to many of the Island’s parks that are designed with kids in mind. The architecture of Folly Field homes is pleasantly eclectic, from modern mansions to old-fashioned beach cottages. The villas run the gamut from budget one-bedroom condos to exclusive oceanfront flats. Several of the villa complexes offer gated security, but like Forest Beach, the larger portion of Folly Filed is open-access.

Singleton Beach

During the last six years Singleton Beach has been undergoing a revolution and is now one of the island’s newest oceanfront and ocean oriented permanent and vacation home developments. The architectural style of Singleton Place is colorful Charlestonian mixed with a bit of an Italian Piazza. Large town homes in multiple hues overlook a pristine beach. There is nothing quite like it on the island.

Buffered from the Hilton Head’s main thoroughfare (278) by unexploited natural parklands, it has been carefully designed to provide breathtaking oceanfront views as well as the panoramic display of an open salt marsh fed by tidal streams. You'll be enthralled by the constant ebb and flow of the tides and entertained by the abundant waterfowl that feed along this natural piece of beach.

Bradley Beach

The Burkes and Bradley beaches still have some of the islands first beach oriented homes but is definitely an area on the rise. Compounds such as Stella del Mar and Horvath Pennisula are great properties to rent or own. Marriott’s newest development on the Island, Surf Watch is nestled right in the middle. Because it is near the folly the island’s best surfing is found in this stretch of unspoiled beach and Chaplin Park is nearby where the family can host a picnic.
